Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actress singer and former model. Her most well-known work is her performance in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain as well as singing lead in Apollonia 6, a girl group. Apollonia was named a female singer and actress by Prince. Through the 1980s she was among numerous artists who benefited from Prince. Patricia Kotero was born in Santa Monica, California in the year 1959. Her career started as a model in the latter part of 1970. She also appeared on CHiPS. She was the lead female for Prince's Purple Rain in 1984 (at the time he changed the name of her). In the same year, she was replaced by Vanity as a member of the group Vanity 6 and was a part of the group under the brand name Apollonia 6 in the film. Sex Shooter, a song from the soundtrack made a tiny popularity for her group, however as Prince's Duet Partner on Take Me with You she was more successful. Kotero broke up with Prince following a falling out over the future of Apollonia 6. She then appeared in a handful of minor movies in the late 1980s (reportedly refusing an offer to star in the follow-up to Purple Rain Under the Cherry Moon), before settling on an evening-time part in the film Falcon Crest in 1985-1986. Apollonia made her debut album in 1988, but it was not a great collection of R&B/dance music that did not really impress the public. The album quickly disappeared completely from the public's view. She stayed active, if she wasn't in the spotlight acting in the decade that followed, with a few appearances in films and on television. An exercise DVD came out. Apollonia released a CD in Spanish and English entitled Stay with me in 1997. She returned to the school, received a diploma in making films. After that, she started her own company and worked on children's television. Apollonia Kotero wears many hats. She has worked as model, actress as well as a the talent manager.
